We help to construct a Children Sharing Centre in Nyagatare (Rwanda)

March 2010:
At the beginning of March the construction work of the Vocational Trainung House finally started after we had forwarded all available donations to ASSIST-Rwanda. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of about 4000 Euro (ca. 5500 US-Dollar) to complete at least the shell of the house. We URGENTLY need your financial support - even for the following enterior work of the building.

In this regard we point to our campaign "Goals for Humankind" on the occasion of the Football (soccer) World Championship 2010 in South Africa. This is a good opportunity to communicate the concern to young people.

February 2010:
Logo Tore für MenschenAt the beginning of lent the Ecumenical 1World-Group of Ruhla (Germany) on the occasion of this year's Football World Championship has begun the campaign "Goals for Humankind" whose proceed will be determined for the child and youth center. It lasts till the end of July, 2010 and invites everything to share the joy which many people will have in the games, with others.
A few people will make a lot of money by this event again, among them also the companies which allow to produce appropriate articles under conditions degrading of children in the poor countries of the earth.
The 1World-Group would like to contribute together with you to the fact that children and youngsters depend no more on such exploitative enterprises to eke out her life. Rather they should be able to lead a humane and self-determined life in their homeland. The children and youth center will contribute to it in Nyagatare in Rwanda.
The campaign is also suited in addition, from interest groups to be carried out schools, to companies and other equipment together.

January 2010:
The german Church Development Service of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany supports the Children Development Center in Nyagatare anew.
After the institution contributed to the construction of the library it decided to also co-finance the building of the vocational training school.
There is still a need of about 5500 Euro to finance the erection of the building. Please, make your contribution now! Thanks alot.

September 2009:
Booth of the 1World-GroupOn Sept 19 and 20, 2009 the 1. Mitteldeutsche Kirchentag (church festival) took place in Weimar.
So, the Ecumenical 1World-Group in Erbstromtal took the chance to present the projects they currently support in Rwanda and Malawi to a broader public.
There were various activities of many different initiatives presented to the people and we were happy about everybody who showed some interest in our projects. Minister(in) Lieberknecht at the info boothEven the Minister of Family of Thuringia, Mrs. Christine Lieberknecht, stopped by to gain the latest info about the children sharing center in Nyagatare, Rwanda. In the light of the big variety of initiatives brought to the public at that day the members of the 1World-Group are grateful that they had the chance to spread the word of their activities. The more, as the construction of the children sharing center still will need big efforts of all concerned people to make it come true. Hopefully, many people will contribute to the center, yet. And thanks to all who gave a donation during the Kirchentag!
Imana ibahe umugisha, one says in Rwanda i.e. God bless you!

August 2009:
A married couple from Eisenach asked on the occassion of its wedding for donations for the Children Sharing Center instead of wedding gifts. We are very grateful for this fantastic activity

July 2009:
Since February the cosntruction work could not continue due to a policy to the district government which says that buildings have to be erected off the reel. This is to avoid vandalism and damage through climatic influence. At the moment there is still a lack of 9500 Euro before the school house for vacational training can be built.

April 2009:

cake saleIn April the Education Institut "Diakonisches Bildungsinstitut Johannes Falk in Eisenach" does a panel discussion (topic "Policy of Education").
The students of grade E2 of the institut did a cake sale on the occassion of that discussion (see picture in the left column) and the proceeds were determined for the construction work of the Children Sharing Center in Nyagatare.
Thank you very much for that good idea! We deeply recommend this for imitation.

March 2009:
The synod of the church district Eisenach-Gerstungen decides during its meeting on March, 27 to support the construction of the Children Sharing Center in Rwanda. Through this the synod leans on an appeal of the World Council of Churches from 1968 to provide 2% of the annual budget for the worldwide development work. Moreover, the synod recommends the church congregations of the district to follow this appeal, too.

February 2009:

Inside the library - Febr. 2009Bookshelfs in the library - Febr. 2009In February 2009 the leader of the 1World-Group, Pastor Reuther, traveled to Rwanda to discuss the construction process of the Children Sharing Center with the staff of ASSIST-RWANDA which is the local co-operation partner of the 1World-Group. Furthermore the sponsorship program had to be evaluated.
Together they visited the construction site in Nyagatare. Pastor Reuther saw for oneself that the library is already in use even if it is not fully equipped so far. Thus, he can confirm that aFoundation of the school house (detail)ll information ASSIST provided were correct and that the proper use of all donations is secured.
Moreover the place was inspected where the foundation for the house for vocational training classes was already laid. Pastor Reuther got evidence that all hitherto information provided by ASSIST is correct.
Meeting with foster children in Kigali, Febr. 2009Since almost all NGO - apart from EED - do not support the construction of houses the entire project depends on our donations. The construction process has to speed up so that the children and youth who will be the beneficiaries of the centre really will have the chance to benefit from the work of the centre very soon. The psycho-social situation of those young people is stressful. Therefore, our immediate help bears no delay!
Meeting with Minister MujawamariyaThe rwandan Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Dr. Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya, confirmed this estimation during a talk with staff members of ASSIST and Pastor Reuther. She promised to support the project with all available means. But finally this visionary project can only be successful by the help of many people around the globe. Those, who sympathize with the maltreated rwandan people who suffered this horrible genozide, act now and help the young people on their way to a life in dignity, self-respect and reconciliation!
Therefore, please help with your donation - right now! Thank you very much.

January 2009:
At the end of January the foundation work for the third building of the centre was completed. It is the building which will host the class rooms. The financial means for the construction work come from the Evangelical Development Service (EED) in Bonn, Germany, and from donations.
In February a member of the 1World-Group will travel to Rwanda and visit the construction site.
We plead with you for supporting the construction of the centre even in this time! Thank you very much!

Randy Anderson during the PresentationNovember 2008:

On November 23th, a friend and supporter of the project, R. Anderson, did a presentation of the Children Sharing Center in his church congregation in Marysville (USA) asking run for peacefor donations. The pastor of the church congregation promised to support the project and spread the word of it continually.

October 2008:
On October 10th, the Evangelical Primary School of Eisenach had a cross run and 148 students took part. The students had asked sponsors before to give a certain amount of money for every lap they run.
By this, they won more than 3000 Euro. Together with the teachers the runners decided to give two third of the proceeds for the Children Sharing Center.
A great initiative! And deeply recommended for imitation!

End of October 2008:

Logo EEDWhile the construction of the multi purpose hall continues the next building is supposed to be constructed. It will house class rooms. Together with the library and the multi purpose hall it grants the basis for a very important part of the work of the center: education, skills training, counselling and reconciliation.
To finance the construction of the house the Churches' Development Service (EED) gave a promise of support.
The building of the house was considered by the ecumenical 1World-Group as the next sub-goal. It has to be constructed within one year max. We ask you to donate for that purpose!

Beginning of October 2008:
Table in the library  ReceptionThe library was equipped with furniture. Furthermore, the first 200 books were granted from the National Commission against AIDS (CNLS), the National Commission of Unity & Reconciliation and from the Ministry of Youth and National Youth Council. Since the power installation is still pending the library was not opened officially. Nevertheless, it is already open for some hours a day.

Beginning of September 2008:
As a result of the request of a committet citizen of the US the Africa Office of Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ in Indianapolis contributes to the current construction of the multi purpose hall of the children sharing centre with a noteworthy donation.
The Vinestreet Church in Nashville (USA) agrees to accept donations from US-citizens for the Children Sharing centre and to forward it to ASSIST-RWANDA. Thus, donations are tax-deductible!

August, 3rd, 2008:
The austrian actress Anna Moik-Stötzer did a reading in the catholic church congregation of Sooß (south of Vienna). She was invited by the pastor of the congregation. Besides, she was accompanied by a rwandan woman who lives in Austria.
The event took place to introduce the Children Sharing Centre in Nyagatare to interested people and to ask them to support the construction of the centre. The people took the message to their heart! Not only that they gave a donation but they also received the information material with interest.
Through this event people from a further country are "aboard" which makes us happy! Welcome Austria!

July, 28, 2008:
ASSIST informs that electricity and water supply for the library will be installed soon. Furthermore, they ordered furniture.
Good news is that the following institutions promised to equip the library with books, magazines etc.: the rwandan ministries of Youth, of Culture and Sports, of Gender and Family Promotion, the National commission in charge of HIV/AIDS prevention and Unicef. ASSIST has donated 2 Computers to the library which will be installed with the arrival of electricity.
The estate was fenced with barbed wire to safeguard the property.

June, 14, 2008:
In June 2008 the first step of the realization of the centre is done: the building of the library is finished. Now water- und powerinstallation are to come.
After that ASSIST hopes the library will be equipped with the necessary itmes through the promised donations.

The library in June 2008 Inside the library in June 2008

While they hope to inaugurate the library at the end of June now we focus our efforts to the realization of the construction of the multipurpose hall.

May, 30, 2008:
While the remaining work for the library is still done (see left picture from May, 18, 2008) the foundation work for the multipurpose hall could begin thanks to the donations from our campaign 1-2-Help. ASSIST involves its beneficiaries in the work. Thus, they get some income, furthermore the construction costs can be kept down and most of all the young people get a certain personal relation with the centre which will serve them and their contemporaries. This is a very wise and effective strategy.

Interior Work Library Foundation of the Multipurpose Hall

Therefore, it is very important that the construction work of the multipurpose hall can continue at a stretch. Unfortunately, the charitable enthusiasm among people is reluctant lately. May be that this is related to the earthquake in China and the flooding in Burma (Myanmar). Even now we ask you, dear reader, to support this sustainable project with your donation! Tie with us a global network of help!
If we help the young people in Rwanda right now we enable them to help themselves so that they will become mostly independend of our support in the future. Therefore: please, support the construction of the centre with your donation right now! It is a one-time gift which will have a long-term effect for generations!
We are grateful for every donation. It may be low or high!

Mrs. Stein, Hunstock, Dr. Vogel, Mrs. Ludwig, Müller, Reuther, Mr. Bergemann - left to rightApril, 26, 2008:
Members of the 1World-Group meet the patron of the campaign, the former Prime Minister of Thuringia, Dr. Bernhard Vogel, in Eisenach for a workshop to discuss with him further measures. Furthermore Mr. Gustav Bergemann, member of the Parliament of the State of Thuringia, takes part in the meeting. He is strongly involved in the campaign. During the meeting the attendees discussed how to push the campaign to a more widespread knowledge and attention among the people not only in Thuringia but also world-wide to find more support.
Dr. Vogel confirmed the strategy of the 1World-Group to support a project where native people help each other directly. This kind of support is very effective, he added. We hope that the children and youths in Rwanda - and the adults too, of course - can use the centre soon and benefit from its offers so that they can build a reconciled society with better living conditions for all.

April, 25, 2008:
Thanks to the generousity of all our donors in February 2008 we were able to remit a remarkable amount of money which made it possible to complete the structural work of the library. The photo was taken on April, 23, 2008.

Library in April 2008 Library in April 2008

Now we are able to provide more financial support thank to your donations and subsidies from the 1World Department of the Church of the Province of Saxony in Magdeburg so that the interior work can be done. We were told that donors in Rwanda will contribute to the equipment of the library with books and other materials. ASSIST hopes that the official inauguration of the library will take place at the end of May 2008.
Please join us and help that the centre will become true. We need your support now!

Fast CalendarMarch, 30, 2008: Before the beginning of the Lenten Season (Ash Wednesday) the 1World-Group does assume an idea of the Africagroup in Stendal and takes part in a fast campaign in favour of the CSC in Rwanda. During Lenten SeasoFast Calendarn a "Fast Calendar" hangs in the manse which is filled with a donation by church members step by step. Besides, some church members take such a calendar to their homes and fill it there. Imitation recommended! Next Lenten Season is the Advent Season...

February, 21, 2008:
Unfortunately, the construction of the library was delayed due to the lack of sufficient funds. In the middle of February we could transfer some more donations to Rwanda so that the work can continue.
